Description

The crane wire rope drum is a mechanical device specifically designed for winding, storing, and releasing wire ropes. It consists of a drum body, drum shaft, bearings and bearing housing, and drum hub.

It achieves smooth payout and rewinding of the wire rope by converting the rotational and linear movements of the wire rope. The drum is usually made of high-strength alloy steel or cast steel to ensure it can withstand immense tensile and compressive forces, enabling the lifting and handling of loads.

Drums are classified into single-layer and multi-layer structures to suit different lifting capacities and working environments. They are also manufactured in two different ways: cast drums and welded drums, catering to various size and weight requirements.

Crane wire rope drums are widely used in lifting equipment such as single-girder cranes, double-girder cranes, gantry cranes, and port cranes.
